Gather Your Ingredients

Recipe for homemade pumpkin peanut butter dog treats makes the perfect treat for your pup! These delicious treats are easy to make at home and do not require a lot of ingredients.

To make them, you will need 2 cups of pumpkin puree, 1/2 cup all-natural peanut butter (make sure there is no added sugar or salt), 3 cups of whole wheat flour, 2 eggs, and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil or melted butter.

Once you have all your ingredients together, you are ready to start making your homemade pumpkin peanut butter dog treats. Make sure to measure out all of your ingredients before you start cooking. After you have all your ingredients gathered together, you are all set to cook up a delicious treat for your pup!

Preheat the Oven

Before baking any type of treat for your dog, it is essential to preheat your oven. For homemade pumpkin peanut butter dog treats, preheat your oven to 350°F. This temperature should be maintained for the entire baking process.

Dog treats should have a golden hue to denote that they are done. If your treats come out too brown, they will be too hard and possibly cause indigestion in your pup. Furthermore, it is important to keep a close eye on them, flipping the treats halfway through if necessary. This will keep them from over-baking and ensure that your pup enjoys a delicious treat!

Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of white whole wheat flour with ½ cup of oat flour, ¼ cup of tapioca flour, ½ cup of natural crunchy peanut butter, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Use a whisk or a hand mixer to thoroughly combine the dry ingredients.

This mixture provides a nice contrast between healthy and tasty for your fur baby to enjoy. Add to that a ½ cup of natural pumpkin puree, and you have a delicious combination.

If you’d like, you can also add a touch of cinnamon or pumpkin spice for a bit of extra flavor. Once everything is combined, your dry ingredients are complete and ready to mix with the wet ingredients.

Knead The Dough

In making the dough for delicious pumpkin peanut butter treats, start off by combining 1 ½ cups of canned or boiled pumpkin, together with 1/3 cup peanut butter and 1 ½ cups of flour.

Next, stir these ingredients together. You can use either a wooden spoon or an electric mixer to combine all the ingredients until a dough forms. Once the dough is ready, roll it out on a floured surface until it becomes an even sheet.

Cut into shapes of your choice and place them onto the cookie sheets. Finally, bake for 25 minutes at 350°F (176.7°C). Once cooled, your homemade pumpkin peanut butter dog treats are ready to serve. Enjoy!

Decorating Ideas for Your Treats

When decorating homemade pumpkin peanut butter dog treats, there are many ways to add a special touch to the treats. You can use candy sprinkles to make the treats festive for any holiday or special occasion.

You can also use frosting or melted chocolate on the treats to make them especially delicious. If you’d like to get creative, you can purchase special coloring and use a pastry bag to create unique designs with the frosting.

You also have the option of pairing the treats with other goodies, such as tiny stuffed animals or bone-shaped toys to give with the treats. You can even use cookie cutters and a rolling pin to make custom shapes to personalize the treats for your furry friend. Have fun and get creative when making dog treats extra special!
